I hit a cool mileage on my Vespa... 5,555 miles and less than a mile from my house. So here's the obligatory pictures:

GO USA! Wow... that was some crazy ass, last minute, suspenseful goal there!
It's Memorial Day and it's time to remember & honor those who gave their lives so we can have our freedom.

I had a great time at the release party today. People brought their scooters and I really admired the vintage SS 90's, Super Sports and others. I took a few pictures of the vintage ones since we've all seen the modern day scooters as well as a few nice shots of all the scoots lined up outside the shop. Afterward, there was a ride out to Mission Bay that went through the city, Balboa Park, and Presidio Park/Old Town. Alex brought pizza for everyone and we all had a great time. Enjoy the pictures!
Since it's the Stella release party, I had to have an obligatory shot of the new 4-stroke Stella... so here's Gitta showing it off:

A bunch of scooters on the street outside the shop:

Note the red radiator fins. We all know that red is the fastest color!
All right you guys... it's time you all pop over to my new site for all things food related. It's called www.phuocndelicious.com so make sure you swing by!
(Ok, it's really not my site but I thought it clever nonetheless)
It's raining and stormy now, but before about 5:00pm, it was a beautiful. I ate a quick lunch and took the scoot out for a 20 minute ride around the harbor. It was so much fun!

One of my favorites from this urban/grunge shoot:

I'm in the process of upgrading my home network to Wireless N. I also did a fresh re-install of Windows XP SP3 on my main machine but somehow it took out the Windows 7 Boot Manager so now I have to get a new one installed. Windows 7 is currently inaccessible to me.
About time. I always thought that gene patents were dubious at best, if not nefarious. I don't buy the argument that isolating the DNA sequence outside of the cell means you own the right to the patent. That's simply ludicrous, no matter how much money was spent to sequence it. Now, if you wanted to patent the tools, process, etc. that you've developed to be able to sequence that string of DNA, then be my guest.
But in this case I totally agree with Judge Sweet that any given gene is a product of nature and may discovered by someone. However, a discovery is a far cry from an invention.

Been raining pretty hard off and on today. Here's what it looked like outside my house around 3:30 this afternoon.

Got myself a new toy today... a LowePro Fastpack 250. From the manufacturer:
"You can shoot all day when you wear the lightweight, comfortable Lowepro Fastpack 250 backpack. It protects a digital SLR with an 18-55mm or 17-85mm kit lens attached plus 15.4" widescreen notebook while providing generous storage for 2-3 additional 105mm f/2.8, 18-200mm f/3.5, or 70-300mm f/4.5 lenses, flash, and other gear. You won't miss a shot, because side-entry compartments let you grab equipment and accessories, even while you're on the move. Customize the easy-to-access main compartment with adjustable dividers, use the outer organizer to keep large accessories handy, and manage memory cards with a built-in pocket. Breathable, contoured shoulder straps distribute weight evenly."
I want to be able to carry a decent amount of gear with me without having to resort to multiple bags. I'll report back on how this puppy does on a 2 week long trip.
